We are aware that DC Comics issued a statement insisting that all artists be banned from creating and selling original work that use, reference, or are inspired by DC-licensed characters. At this time, to our knowledge, no formal legal action has been taken and so we see no active risk to any artists or collectors of their works.
That said, Portion does not take this issue lightly. For far too long, artists have been restricted from creating and profiting freely from their original work. This is why we are building the most artist- and collector-centric auction house in the world. NFTs present a new medium where artists can monetize their work and directly connect with their audience, enabling both artist and fan to benefit from the success of the work. This new paradigm is a mindshift in how we think about value creation and value capture.
